Lady Captain Peggy Duffy welcomes you to the Black Bush Ladies Section of our website.
Black Ladies Club has over 200 members with a very large number of very active ladies playing weekly in the many competitions on offer.
On Mondays we run a Nifty Fifties 9 hole competition which runs throughout the year. This is a very popular competition and is a great way to participate and make new friends.
Tuesday is our main competition day. The competitions vary between singles, team events and some foursomes and fourball events.
There are 10 Golfer of the Year competitions and we also run 8 medal competitions which are a much coveted achievement.
On Thursdays there is another nine hole competition running from April through to September. This is called the Red Thursdays Competition and has proven to be very popular.
Saturdays and Sundays are a very busy time in the club with Ladies and Gents competitions running both days.
Get into Golf has also been a great success. Lessons for participants have been held over the summer months for the last four years and we are delighted to say that many of these ladies and gents are now a very active part of our club.
Our Social Committee are also very active. Social Golf takes place every Friday evening during the summer and on Sunday afternoons in the Winter months. This is a mixed team format and all members and their visitors are welcome.
Interclub competitions are held every season and Black Bush enter teams, both ladies and gents, for all handicap ranges. This season has been very exciting as our ladies minor team have reached the Leinster Final and the Junior Cup Team are at the semi final stage which will be played shortly.
On Saturday 7th May, we held our third Golf into Light in aid of Pieta House. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience golf in a completely different atmosphere and at the same time raise funds for a very deserving charity.
Our Junior Section is thriving with lots of girls and boys participating in competitions every week.
Two of our girls, Caoimhe and Niamh O’Grady are representing the club at the highest level in Championship Golf. This past week Caoimhe was the leading points scorer in the Interprovincial Under 18 championships. The club is extremely proud of them both and they are a great inspiration, not only to other juniors, but to all our members. We wish them every success for the rest of the season and beyond.
The motto of our club is Sport agus Cairdeas and we always try to live by this.
